Ace is a 7-year-old Beagle/Basset Hound mix who was surrendered to the Cleveland APL when his owners moved into a nursing home. Ace was a very friendly guy but horribly overweight. He weighed 88 pounds when he came to us, and he had trouble even getting up. Our medical team had real concerns for what the future would hold for him. But our staff and volunteers worked with him. Ace lost some weight and soon could even go on short walks. Two months after coming to us, Ace was adopted! His new mom reports Ace now weighs a slim 58 pounds and even chases squirrels. Ace is truly “The Biggest Loser—Canine Division.”
