Chatty Cathy was an 8-week-old kitten when the local police called our Humane Investigations Department (Cleveland’s own “Animal Cops”) for assistance. She had crawled up into a truck’s engine, and her little leg was caught in the fan belt. Officer Rob was able to free Chatty Cathy, and when she was examined at the APL, she had a gash on her leg and her hip bone appeared to be out of its socket. Dr. Melisa Kauffman, our APL veterinarian, put her hip back in place and took her home as a foster cat. Chatty Cathy eventually also needed surgery. After more time recovering with Dr. Kauffman’s family, Chatty Cathy was put on our adoption floor and soon found a forever home.
