Hi all!  As expected, the Ozzman is sleeping…AGAIN!  But I don’t need him; everyone knows I am the brains behind this whole operation!

I have exciting news to share this week!  (While Ozzy has plenty of snoring to share!)  Did you know May 16th kicks off National New Friends, Old Friends Week?  Since Ozzy and I are big party animals, the APL has decided to CELEBRATE! 

During the week-long celebration, from Sunday, May 16th, through Saturday, May 22nd, adoption fees for all kittens under 5 months will be reduced to $45 and all cats 5 months and older will be reduced to $20.  Regular kitten adoption fees are $95, and cat adoption fees are $45.  And, so that we can keep old friends together, any second kitten or cat adoption will be only $10. 

Just in case you didn’t already know, here are some great reasons why the friendship of a pet is as good as, or better than, human friendship:

Pets can improve your mood.  It’s virtually impossible to stay in a bad mood when a pair of loving puppy eyes meets yours, or when a super-soft cat rubs up against your hand. Research supports the mood-enhancing benefits of pets.

Pet control blood pressure better than drugs.  A group of hypertensive New York stockbrokers who got dogs or cats were found to have lower blood pressure and heart rates than those who didn’t get pets.

Pets provide unconditional love.  Pets can be there for you in ways that people can’t. They can offer love and companionship, and can also enjoy comfortable silences, keep secrets and are excellent snugglers. And they could be the best cure for loneliness.

Pets Can Reduce Stress.  While we all know the power of talking about your problems with a good friend who’s also a good listener, recent research shows that spending time with a pet may be even better!  Pets don’t judge us; they just love us!
