Hi all! It’s Ozzy here. Remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you about all the different things our wonderful volunteers do for the Cleveland APL? Well, this week I wanted to tell you a little bit more about our foster care program.
Our volunteer foster families open their homes to animals who need a little extra TLC. Some of the animals have been injured, some are getting over an illness, and some aren’t big enough to go up for adoption yet. In the spring and summer, LOTS of kittens are born, so our foster families keep our shelter from overflowing with felines.
Foster caregivers are very special people. They see a lot of really sad things, but they help create happy endings for hundreds of animals every year. Last year alone they cared for 1,456 Cleveland APL animals!!
I don’t have room here to tell you all the foster care stories I know about, so I’ll just share this one about Revol, a young St. Bernard/Dalmatian mix. Poor Revol had such a horrible case of mange (a skin disease) when he came here thathe was bright pink where he should have been white!! He really needed help,
and he got it from our vet staff and a fantastic foster family. Asyou can see from his photo, Revol is looking good now!! He’s on our adoption floor, ready for a permanent home.
We’re always looking for more foster caregivers. If you’re interested in helping, call Alyson Manningham, our Foster Care Coordinator, at 216-771-4616,
Ext. 181 or e-mail her at foster@clevelandapl.org.
Until next week…
Love and purrs,
Kobe and Ozzy
