Cats’ Eye View

November 12, 2010

OzzyHi all! It’s Ozzy here. What a week this has been! We had a fantastic Fur Ball, our TNR program reached a milestone, and one of our foster cats and her babies became media celebrities!!

It’s a good thing Kobe and I took time off from our blog last week to oversee all the last-minute details for Fur Ball. Saturday night’s gala event drew 375 guests and raised more than $178,000 for our Second Chance Program!!!

KobeThen on Thursday, our Trap, Neuter, Return Program sterilized its 10,000th feral cat since launching less than three years ago. I have to give a big shout out to Marta Anderson, our Spay/Neuter Services Supervisor, and all the veterinary staff and volunteers who made this happen. My mom ran some numbers and figured out that by sterilizing 10,000 feral cats, the APL has prevented the birth of about 34,720 cats in the next year!!!

And as we got ready to call it a day on Thursday, we found out that a mama cat who hadHelp Our Friends been nursing not only her own kittens but an orphaned puppy for the past month in a wonderful foster care volunteer’s home was here with her babies for a checkup. We alerted the media, and the story was all over TV and the Internet before we turned in last night!

Another week, another job well done.

Love and purrs,
Kobe and Ozzy
