The Cleveland Animal Protective League knows its adoptable animals are stars, and Cleveland celebrities are pitching in to help us prove it. In 2012, local celebrities are selecting their favorite Cleveland APL pets to sponsor. Each celebrity will use their talents to increase awareness and help educate Greater Clevelanders about the benefits of saving a homeless animal’s life and improving their own lives in the process. Celebrities will also be honoring Cleveland APL adopters by providing exclusive prizes to a few lucky adopters.
Celebrities are already lining up to join the campaign and will appeal to a wide range of interests - diehard sports fans, news junkies and local foodies will all be excited to hear about the celebrities involved. The Cleveland APL will announce each celebrity participant and the adoption promotions as their sponsor periods approach.
Matt Fish, owner and chef of the local, legendary Melt Bar and Grilled, is asking Clevelanders to open their homes to pets that will melt their hearts.
Since September 2006, Cleveland’s Melt Bar and Grilled has offered gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches to please any palate in a relaxed, comfortable and often full-to-capacity atmosphere. Matt’s vision puts a new spin on the same-old bar food, and it does so in a setting that provides something for everyone.
Our Common Bond…
Matt recently visited our shelter in the Tremont area and learned we have a lot in common. The Cleveland APL provides a fun and comfortable place to meet and take home the newest addition to your family. Our wonderful adoptable animals stay with us until they find a home. While they are with us, our caring staff and volunteers provide them with lots of love and enrichment so they’ll be the best addition to your family they can possibly be! And we also offer something for everyone – adopters can visit us in person or online to meet a variety of adoptable animals, from large to small breed dogs and puppies, cats, kittens and even small mammals.
But, regardless of how nice their stay at our shelter is, we want our animals to find homes as quickly as possible. So Matt and Melt are partnering with the Cleveland APL this month to make perfect matches and help connect Clevelanders with a deserving animal who needs a home.
Matt’s Story
Dogs were a large part of Matt’s life growing up; he always seemed to inherit dogs in search of new homes, and they were always BIG breeds. Matt still has a special place in his heart for large breeds; he brought home Doris, his English Mastiff, when she was just a puppy.
“People often underestimate the level of companionship and true enrichment a pet can bring to their lives. I always had large dogs growing up, so I understand the personal impact. But bringing home a pet from an organization like the Cleveland APL also makes a big impact on the community. We can support the local animal community and Cleveland in general by considering local shelter adoption when adding a pet to our families,” said Matt.
If you adopt your new best friend from the Cleveland APL, we want to know. Tell us about your Cleveland APL adoption experience on Facebook, or share your photos and experience on Twitter @MeltBarGrilled and @ClevelandAPL.
