When my husband and I finally moved into an apartment that allowed cats, we knew we wanted to adopt one from the Cleveland APL. That was about 5 1/2 years ago.
We went into the APL and snuggled with all the kitties to see which one would pick us. Then we saw her. A little tortoise shell kitten whose eyes were the biggest part of her. She had our heartstrings in a minute. When we took her home, we quickly had her name: Cyndi Lou (yes, after Cindy Loo Who)!
A few years after we moved into our house (about 3 years ago), we thought Cyndi Lou would like a little sister. Again, we went to the APL to see who would pick us. Lo and behold, she happened to be another tortoise shell kitten! My husband fell in love with her spunkiness. He named her Anastasia.
Our 'girls' not only look like sisters, they act like it, too. They have two totally different personalities. Cyndi Lou is more laid back, where Anastasia is very hyper. Cyndi Lou doesn't want anything to do with people food, but Ana will eat darned near anything in sight. They both have their own ways of 'lovin' - Ana will literally shove her head under your hand and look at you with that, "Well? Aren't you going to pet me NOW?". Cyndi Lou will stretch up and bap at you (amazing how far that girl can stretch up) to get your attention, then rub around your legs. Cyndi Lou loves to be picked up and snuggled, but Ana likes to come to you to be snuggled.
Anyhow, the photos attached are of the 'girls' . . . Thank you for all the work you do!!
Best wishes & kitty snuggles,

Peeking: The girls were feeling photogenic one afternoon. This one is Anastasia peeking out from her 'hiding spot' under our desk chair.

Snuggle: This was one of the rare moments when they snuggle together. Cyndi Lou is the big one on the left, and Anastasia is on the right.

'Saving the World': I had purchased a t-shirt from the comic creator of 'Mutts'. The shirt shows Earl on top of the world holding on to Mooch with the caption, "Saving the world one kitty at a time." I laid it on the stairs, and when I turned around Cyndi Lou was snuggling with it. |
