Butch & Sundance - just like our zodiac sign says, we are genuine, trusting, and warmhearted.  When it comes to critters, we are faithful and loving toward each other—but no other pets in the home, please!  We are looking for a special person to call our own and to give us belly rubs and long walks (around the block).  We’re not the kind of girls who need to be “wined and dined," but we will take all of the dog treats that we can get!  We can show anyone that age is just a number.

Chelsea is a super-sweet, 4-yr-old, female, Australian Shepherd mix.

  I was abandoned by my owners and left with an injured eye which needed to be removed.  I missed it at first, but I don't even notice that it's gone now.  (Actually, I like the extra attention I get when folks realize I only have one eye!)  I don't know why my family abandoned me because we used to spend a lot of time together:  they taught be how to go to the bathroom outside and do all kinds of silly things like sit and shake.  I can't wait to show my new family all the things I know!  

Dixie is an 8-yr-old, female, Hound/Lab mix. 

 I was once a well cared for dog, but I ran away and my owners never came to find me.  They taught me well, though, and I will sit, lay down, AND rollover for a treat.  I'll do anything for a treat!  In fact, I've probably had a few too many in my lifetime.  I do love going for walks, though.  Did you know that walking is great for people too and people are found to get more exercise when they have a dog?  Let's start a new friendship and exercise plan together and be on our way to a healthier, happier lifestyle!   

Cafe (A07037863) is a 7-yr-old, Shepherd/Husky mix. 

I was in pretty bad shape when I arrived at the APL, but they took great care of me and I'm doing much better now.  I may still look a little funny, but my hair is starting to fill back in and I'll be fluffy and shiny again in no time.  I really enjoy running around outside so a home with a big yard and room to explore would be perfect for me.

Milly is 3-yr-old, female, Hound/Lab mix.  

I'm a really sweet and calm dog who has been waiting for her perfect family since November.  I'm a little shy at first and may not run to the front of the kennel to greet you, but if you give me some time, I will be your best friend.  If you have a peaceful and relaxed household that's looking for some extra companionship, I'm the pooch for you.  Have some extra room on your bed and need your feet warmed?

Whiskers is an 8-yr-old, male, cat.  I’m front declawed and the surgery left me with a little limp, but it can’t slow me down.  I’m an Executive. I have to say, I`m a busy cat. First, I`ve got to check out what`s happening out the window. Next, I`ll see if any closets or cupboards need looking into. And then there are my naps - can`t be late for those. Baybee is a 3 ½ yr-old, female, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.  I have a lot of energy to burn and would do best in a home without small animals or children.  Overall, I’m a Goofball. Cathy (6977601) a female dog. My name is Cathy and I like to go-go-go!  That's why I am listed as a Go-Getter!  I love to play fetch and tug, and to be around people.  I also like to go for walks...or jogs...whichever you prefer!  I was adopted once, but abandoned back at the shelter because I had too much energy.  It's nice here at the APL, but I would really like to have my own family.  I will keep you busy, and I'll never turn down the chance to play!  I'm very smart and I promise that I'll work really hard to master all of the tricks and commands you train me.  Keep me in mind when you visit the APL!   

Dee Dee (6313870) is a 3 yr-old, female, kitty. Hi, I'm Dee Dee, a beautiful orange and white cat.  I am almost 3 and I have been here since November of last year.  I was adopted once, but they never took me to the vet and I got very sick.  The vet here said that I have to eat a special diet, and I think that this might be why people are passing by my cage instead of taking me home.  I am very friendly and social...in fact, my Feline-ality© says that I am a Sidekick!  I would love to have a real home, where I can look out of the windows during the day and snuggle up on your lap at night.  I promise, I'll do my best to be a purr-fect kitty for you!

Smuckers (8108623) a 5 year old male dog. If you are looking for a friendly and energetic dog, then I am the boy for you!  My name is Smuckers, and I am a five year old terrier mix.  I was abandoned and I am really hoping to find a permanent home!  My new owners will need to be pretty active in order to keep up with me, because I am always on the go.  I like to go for walks, to run around the backyard, and to chase toys.  I would really like to learn commands, too!  I don't know very many of them yet...but I am ready for you to teach me.  If you are looking for a new workout partner, come to the Cleveland APL and meet with me!

Squirt (8260938) and Amy (8260782) Hi, I'm Amy!  Let me tell you about me and my sister, Squirt.  We are two very sweet...and somewhat chubby...Chihuahua mix females.  Squirt has a very tiny bark, so I tend to doing the barking for the both of us!  I can even let you know when Squirt needs to go outside.  We have lived together for our entire lives, and we are very bonded with each other.  Our favorite pastimes include going for walks together, sharing our toys, and snuggling up on the couch to watch movies with you.  Before we came to the APL we shared our home with a cat, and we do not mind living with another feline.  Please consider adopting me and Squirt!  We would really like to have a real home before the summer ends.

Buddy (7013872) a male kitty. I'm Buddy and I am on a mission...to get out of the shelter and into your home!  I was brought to the APL this past January by a kind person who found me as a stray, and wasn't able to find a permanent home for me.  I can be quite shy at first, but all I need is some time to myself to observe you and your household so that I feel comfortable in my new surroundings.  I am a true Private Investigator, and let me tell you, I am more than willing to keep an eye on you!  I am a refined, quiet, and handsome cat and I would love to have a real family to watch over.  Come down to the APL and stop by kennel 67 to see me!

Meet Binx.  He is a two-year-old Shih Tzu who has had a rough start in life.  When he arrived at the APL, Binx was blind in one eye from a dog attack.  We had to remove his damaged eye for health reasons.  Binx lived with children who did not know he needed a gentle touch, and as a result, he is afraid of children.  Binx's new home need to be either an adult-only family or one with children age 15 or older.

Rosco (8896467) Did you know that it takes large black dogs the longest time to get adopted from animal shelters?  It's true.  My name is Rosco, and I've been here since October 7th.  I am more than ready to join a new family!  I am a handsome Labrador Retriever mix, and I am three years old.  I love being around people...in fact, I crave attention.  You know what else I like?  Treats!  I'm a little chubby right now, so I probably shouldn't have too many of them.  Although we could always have a snack and then go for a brisk walk to burn it off!  I am an active boy, and I promise that together we can both get in great shape.  I like going for walks with the volunteers here, but I would like it even more if I was in a new home with a scheduled walk to look forward to every day.  Come down to the APL to meet me...and bring the kids!  I would really like to have one in my new house...

Buddy (8581708) I am a very handsome Labrador mix who is full of energy and looking for someone to help me burn it off!  I'm like a puppy--a big puppy--so I need an owner who can handle a strong dog.  I was returned for being too rough with the cats and dog in the home I was adopted to, so please consider me only if you do not have other pets!  My favorite part of the day is when the APL's volunteers come to take me out for our daily walks.  It feels great to get out of my kennel and to check out what is going on in the park.  It would feel even better if I had a home to go back to afterwards.  Please consider adopting me--I want to have my own home before the holidays come!

Java 8980883 My name is Java and I am looking for my forever home!  I am a one year old female and I'm still as playful as a pup.  I was picked up as a stray by the City Kennel, and then I got transferred here to the APL.  Everyone here keeps telling me that I am very skinny, but now that I am eating two meals a day (plus a lot of snacks) I am sure that I can get up to a normal weight!  I would really like to become a part of a real family soon...preferably one with kids or another dog to play with.  If you think that you could be my new adopted family, bring everyone down to the Cleveland APL to meet me!

Winnie 7098337 - Looking for a fabulous first feline?  Come and meet with me, Winnie, at the Cleveland APL!  I am an extremely friendly, 3 year old female cat.  I was brought to the APL in January, and I think that it is time that I get into a real home.  Although I love people, I am not too fond of other cats and I should go to a home where I will be the only kitty.  My favorite things include "talking" to people, getting rubbed under my chin, and watching birds and squirrels from the safety of a window.  I should let you know that I do have a limp in my left rear leg, but this does not hold me back at all!  If you take me home, I will still be more than happy to follow you around the house and chase after toys. 

Amaryllis 7733834 - I'm Amaryllis and I am looking for someone to love!  I was found as a stray and brought to the APL in May.  Now I am ready to find my "furever" home!  The staff and volunteers here at the shelter love my sweet tempurr-ment and my beautiful green eyes.  I can be a shy girl until I get to know you, but once we get acquainted I will be happy to follow you around the house and curl up next to you while you read or watch TV.  If a quiet, affectionate companion is what you are looking for, then I am the cat for you!

Meet Madeline!  Madeline is a 3-year-old female cat.  She originally came to the APL as a stray.  She was a very shy and made her paper bag her home until she became comfortable with her new surroundings. Now, you would never know she started her life as a stray.  Madeline will want to be right next to you whether you are reading the paper or curled on the couch watching a movie.  Allow this beauty to make your house her home for the holidays!

Sandy  is a 4-year-old orange and white tabby.  Female orange and white tabbies are very rare, but to us here at the APL, we think her personality makes her one of a kind!  Sandy was surrendered to us because her owner had to move home and a member of the household is allergic to cats.  Sandy was very, very shy and scared when she first came to us.  But the love and attention from the APL staff and volunteers worked its magic!  Today Sandy is a loving, affectionate cat who will make a great companion for her new mom or dad! 

Muffy  7527905  Hi, I’m Muffy- I’m a quiet, independent older girl, and I’ve been at the shelter since April, when my previous owner moved and couldn’t take me along.  I’m litter-trained, and I have lived successfully with kids and other cats.  I like the quiet life, so if you’ve got a secluded corner where I can curl up and a lap that I can call my own, consider stopping by to visit me.

Princess Kitten (7486200) My name is Princess Kitten and I am looking for a new castle to prowl around in.  Need some detective work done?  I am a Private Investigator™ and I would be more than happy to explore every nook and cranny of your kingdom, keeping you safe and sound!  I am a rather reserved princess and would prefer to live somewhere quiet.  Dogs and other cats really scare me, so I need to be the only pet in your home.  I really enjoy getting attention, and I would love to help you keep your lap warm this winter! 

Shadow  7541059  I’m a Secret Admirer.  When it comes to relationships, I'm very level-headed. Meet Savannah! This 5-month-old German Shepherd mix is one big ball of energy!  The blue-eyed beauty is still a puppy and will require some basic command training.  Savannah is great with kids and would make a great addition to any cat-free household!  Savannah loves going to walks, playing with toys and giving big kisses!  Stop by the APL and meet with Savannah; she will surely win over your heart!
