Cats’ Eye View

May7, 2010

KobeHi all!  It’s Kobe and Ozzy here!  We want to thank everybody who called and pledged to the 5th Annual Pledge for Pets Radiothon last weekend.  Our friends at Q104 helped us raise more than $140,000 for the programs and services to help the animals here at the APL!!!

AceOne of the APL’s staff’s favorite canines came back for a visit!  If they did a “Biggest Loser” for dogs, Ace would win!  He was 88 pounds when he was at the APL, and he had trouble getting up and walking.  Now Mr. Ace Huckleberry (his new full name) is a svelte 52 pounds, and he was running around the broadcast room and enjoying time with his new mom and his human “brother!”

Rebecca Wilde from Q104 even went in a phone booth that was built for the APL to show the human equivalent to what it is like for a cat to live in a cage in a shelter.  Ozzy and I both have lots of space here in Radiothonthe APL’s administrative offices, and we run around a lot.  But in the shelter cages, the cats are living in close proximity to their food and litter box, just like Rebecca was in the  phone booth!  The APL had to raise $20,000 before Rebecca could come out, and she was glad to be free!  It was a good reminder of why we want our friends to get adopted and be freed from their cages as quickly as possible, too!

Help Our FriendsOne of the best things about the radiothon was the 55 animals who went to their new homes on Friday and Saturday!  Ozzy and I are so happy for all our friends who now have loving families!

And the very best thing is, now that radiothon is over, we can stop working here in the office and go back to our regular routine of eating, sleeping, playing and getting petted by the APL staff!  We like that job way better than filing and sorting and all the other office work we did last week!

 Until next time…

Love and purrs,
Kobe and Ozzy
