National Spay Day Event on February 23
is Scored with a “Perfect 10” by the Cleveland APL
The Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL) is celebrating national “Spay Day” February 23 by noting that it has performed more than 10,000 spay/neuter surgeries since last year’s event and asking citizens to help Cuyahoga County “win the gold” by making an appointment to have a stray cat spayed or neutered for just $10.

Feline Virus Temporarily Halts Cat Admissions At the Cleveland Animal Protective League
The Cleveland Animal Protective League has recently experienced several cases of feline panleukopenia, a highly contagious and often fatal virus that is sometimes called feline parvovirus. Group of Ohio Humane Societies to Bring 100 Dogs Rescued from West Virginia Puppy Mill
to Ohio for Adoption -- Including the Cleveland Animal Protective League
A large puppy mill operation in Parkersburg, West Virginia was shut down earlier this week by the Humane Society of Parkersburg with support from other animal welfare organizations. Santiago Supports New Collaboration to Help the Silent Victims of Violence
SAFE (Safety for Animals and Families in Emergencies) is a not-for-profit program serving Northeast Ohio that began 5 years ago with a simple conversation at Shaker Animal Hospital. Family law attorney Leslie Gentile was relating her frustration to veterinarian James Prueter, DVM, ACVIM, about yet another case in which a client found her beloved pet had been severely injured by her abuser when she left.
