You can help provide veterinary care to extraordinary animals at the APL!

For additional
Second Chance Program
information contact our
Development Office
at 216-344-1353 or
by EMAIL HERE.

Every year the Cleveland APL takes in thousands of sick, injured, and special-needs animals that require a little extra help and medical care.

Some are turned in by their owners or by caring individuals who found them as strays. Others are abused, abandoned, or neglected animals that are rescued by our Humane Investigation officers.

Your gift will help to provide veterinary care for wonderful animals that are looking for a chance, not only to survive, but also to heal and be given a chance to start a new, healthy life with a “forever” family full of love.

Make a donation today and know that you have enabled us to save the lives of animals that come to us ill, abused, injured or “less than perfect.”  On behalf of the 2nd Chance animals, thank you for your kindness.

If you believe that every animal deserves the same care and attention that you would give your own pet, contribute to our SECOND CHANCE Program HERE and help extraordinary animals overcome extraordinary circumstances.

Second Chance Cici

CiCi was attacked by a much larger dog, which left her with an enormous gaping wound covering one-quarter of her side. CiCi went through four surgical procedures and extensive care in between procedures to get the wound to heal completely.  CiCi's happy ending--her foster family decided to adopt her!

Second Chance Winki

Winky was brought the Cleveland Animal Protective League by our Humane Investigators because his owner had struck him in the head as punishment for refusing to use his dirty litter box. He was unable to see out of his right eye due to the trauma; our veterinarian decided she would have to remove his eye. When Winky was completely healed, he went to one of our offsite adoption partners and he was adopted immediately!
Stanley

Stanley arrived at the APL with chemical burns to his face and eye, prompting the removal of his eye.  Thanks to the 2nd Chance Program his surgery was able to be done and he is healing nicely.
Hope
A careless driver precipitated Hope's APL arrival. Hope was hit by a car and a passing motorist brought her here for assistance. A veterinary exam reveals her right front leg requires amputation.
Doolittle

Doolittle is a 1 year-old Chinese Sharpei- mix, who, in spite of heartworm, has remained energetic and full of mischievous spirit.  The 2nd Chance Program has allowed his on-going treatment and medications.

Brownie

Brownie arrived as an HI surrender with septicemia and necrosing mammary glands that were pulling away from her body cavity. With intensive surgery and treatment she continues to improve.
